⛩️ Temple Explanation | The Earth Official, Great Emperor of Pardon of the Second Rank of Zhongyuan: In Taoist belief, the exalted deities second in status only to the Jade Emperor are the "Three Officials of Heaven, Earth, and Water" (Lords of the Three Realms), who represent the three realms of heaven, earth, and water, and are extremely close to the mortal world. The fifteenth day of the seventh lunar month, the Zhongyuan Festival, is the birthday of the "Earth Official of the Second Rank of Zhongyuan who Pardons Sins and Great Emperor of Clarity and Emptiness" (Emperor Shun).

The Earth Official Emperor presides over "forgiving sins." It is said that if one sincerely repents and reflects on all past mistakes and sins on his birthday, one can receive the compassionate forgiveness of the Earth Official Emperor, eliminate bad karma and obstacles, and achieve a light body and a pure mind.
