⛩️ Temple Explanation | Earth Gods of the Three Realms: Heaven, Earth, and Humanity

The Tudigong enshrined in this temple is a branch spirit extended from Kanding Fuan Temple in Baihe District, Tainan City, making it the only sacred site in Taiwan dedicated to the Earth Gods of the "Three Realms of Heaven, Earth, and Humanity." The principal deity enshrined in the ancestral temple is "Zhao Guofu," who was born during the Kangxi Emperor's reign in the Qing dynasty. He grew up in poverty and was once beaten nearly to death after losing the sheep he was tending. After the King of Hell investigated and clarified the matter, he was permitted to return to the mortal world. Throughout his life after returning to life, he performed good deeds, relieved the poor, and assisted others. Upon his death, the heavens, moved by his kindness, bestowed upon him the title of "Tudigong" (Earth God). When Emperor Jiaqing of the Qing dynasty traveled to Taiwan, bandits were rampant, and the heavens further issued an imperial edict commanding the Tudigong Zhao Guofu to manifest his divine power and safely protect the imperial entourage.

On the second day of the eighth lunar month in the Year of Renyin, the Jinhuan respectfully invited the incense fire, and on the fifteenth day of the eighth lunar month, coinciding with the Earth God's birthday, the consecration and spiritual awakening ceremony was held to receive incense worship for eternity. The Earth God governs merchants' businesses, the safety of homes and manors, the prosperity of domestic animals, and bountiful harvests, making him most closely connected to the daily lives of the public.

The manifestation of the sacred form is entirely a manifestation of compassionate guidance.

His "long beard" warns people to respect the elderly more, so that they may enjoy health, longevity, and enduring success; the "cane" he holds in his right hand is topped with a longevity peach, an immortal fruit, encouraging devout believers to be down-to-earth and cultivate fields of blessings, so that all things will go as they wish and good fortune, prosperity, longevity, and happiness can all be attained; the "gold ingot" he holds in his left hand while leaning against a treasure chest serves as a reminder to the world that all wealth acquired in a lifetime is predestined by heaven and should not be greedily over-accumulated. Those who are charitable thrive, entirely because the merits and virtues they have accumulated create the wealth of their lives.
